Setup Azure IoT Edge Device

The following steps walk you through the process of setting up an Azure IoT Edge Device.

1. Create an IoT Hub

• Create an IoT Hub

2. Register an IoT Edge device to your Hub

• Create an IoT Edge device in the Azure portal
• View IoT Edge devices in the Azure portal
• Retrieve the connection string in the Azure portal

3. Install the IoT Edge runtime on Raspberry Pi device

• Download and install Raspbian Stretch
• Install the latest Azure IoT Edge runtime version
• Configure the security daemon - Manual provisioning
• Verify successful installation

4. Create test certificates

• Install Git on the Raspberry
• Set up scripts on Linux
• Create root CA certificate Linux
• Create IoT Edge device CA certificates Linux

5. Install production certificates

• Install certificates on the device

6. Configure an IoT Edge device to act as a transparent gateway

• Deploy edgeHub to the gateway
