Overview

The Internet of Things (IoT) is connecting smart devices and machines making them exposed to cyber attacks as they rely on internet connectivity. In addition, edge devices located in exposed locations may need additional protection, beyond that of the physical access to the network. Therefore, relying on hardware-based methods for protection can provide an extra layer of security for IoT devices.

Hardware security modules, such as Trusted Platform Module (TPM), Hardware Security Module (HSM) or Smart Cards can provide the highest level of security by creating and storing private keys that are never revealed outside the hardware module.

Devices connected to the gateway can contain built-in native security to enable secure TLS connection or integrate strong authentication support for your application.
