This release of Bosch IoT Edge Services is part of the new Bosch IoT Edge, the next generation edge offering of the Bosch IoT Suite.
As of version 10.2, Bosch IoT Gateway Software is re-branded to Bosch IoT Edge Services, now deployable as a standard container and fully integrated with the new Bosch IoT Edge.
IMPORTANT: With this new integration, cloud connectivity to the IoT Hub is provided by the Bosch IoT Edge Agent. Direct connectivity to the IoT Hub via the old Gateway Software Protocol is discontinued.
Some brand new functionalities in this release include:
Digital twin representation of edge – represent Edge Services runtime, OSGi bundles and OSGi configurations as Things in the Bosch IoT Things service
MQTT cloud connectivity for gateways – connect variety of gateways and gateway-connected edge devices to the Bosch IoT Suite cloud service over MQTT
FIM to Vorto converter – Vorto generator tool allows functional item interfaces to be generated from Vorto function blocks and used for model-based device provisioning
Bulk operations over functional items – conveniently invoke operations or change property values over all functional items added to a group
FIM support for system backup and restore – backup and restore functionality is accessible through all the Functional Item Management local utilities and remote APIs
History Configuration Web Admin – easily edit and remove configurations using the web console
ONVIF Auxiliary Commands (AUX) – control different type of hardware operating features such as Infrared, thermometer, lamp, wiper, heater
TLS Authentication for ONVIF devices – securely authenticate with the device over HTTPS connections
