The UPnP Device Specification, defined in the OSGi Service Platform Service Compendium Release 4, contains components for representation and control of UPnP-enabled devices from within an OSGi framework via a UPnP base driver.

The API, introduced by UPnP Device Specification, defines mechanisms for:

Importing UPnP standard devices so that they are available to applications through an integrated UPnP control point.
Exporting virtual devices so that the members of a UPnP-based network, like control points and other devices, can interact with them.
