Module Description

The OSGi module provides the functionality de fined by the OSGi Specification, which is quite an essential part of the Bosch IoT Gateway Software Runtime.

Feature Set

OSGi API – Provides you with specific API that extends the standard OSGi Services.
OSGi Configuration Manager – Contains the implementation of the OSGi Configuration Admin Service Specification Release 5.
OSGi Connector – Provides an implementation of the IO Connector Service Specification Release 5.
OSGi Console Commands – The OSGi Console Commands provide several groups of console commands.
OSGi Coordinator – The OSGi Coordinator (implementation of Coordinator Service Specification Release 5), allows you to provide coordination between different parties on the same framework (coordinated collaborative components).
OSGi Device Manager – Attaches appropriate drivers to the devices currently available in the framework. This bundle provides an implementation of a device manager and complies with the Device Access Specification which is a part of the OSGi Service Platform Compendium Release 5.
OSGi Event Admin – The OSGi Event Admin implements the OSGi Event Admin Service Specification Release 5 from the OSGi Service Platform Compendium. It uses an inter-bundle communication mechanism to simplify sending and receiving events between bundles.
OSGi HTTP – The HTTP Service complies completely with the OSGi HTTP Service Specification Release 5. Furthermore, the OSGi HTTP Bundle has services for direct resource requests and for monitoring valid aliases. A new implementation of the Http Service from Eclipse Equinox based on Jetty Servlet Engine and Http Server is provided. For more details refer to the Migration guide.
OSGi Log – The OSGi Log implements Log Service Specification Release 5 and can be assumed as the backbone for the OSGi Runtime as many bundles use its abilities for writing and reading logs. A new feature is added for every log service client – a bundle or a group of bundles, to configure its own log file with its own rotation policy.
OSGi Log Files Web Console – Provides a web interface to list and view the log files generated by the system.
OSGi Metatype – The Metatype contains the implementation of the OSGi Metatype Service from the OSGi Service Platform Compendium, Release 5.
OSGi Preferences – Provides the OSGi Preferences Service (according to the Preferences Service Specification part of the OSGi Service Compendium, Release 5) which stores and provides access to the preferences properties of bundles.
OSGi Provisioning – The Initial Provisioning is a provisioning agent implementing the OSGi Initial Provisioning Service, defined in the OSGi Service Compendium Specification, Release 5 which stores and provides access to the preferences properties of bundles.
OSGi Repository – Provides implementation of the Repository Service, defined in the OSGi Service Compendium Specification, Release 5.
OSGi Resolver – Provides implementation of the Resolver Service, defined in the OSGi Service Compendium Specification, Release 5.
OSGi Service Component Runtime – Contains set of functions provided by the Service Component Runtime Bundle. It also contains a developer's guide to managing OSGi services by the means defined in the OSGi Declarative Services Specification Release 5.
OSGi User Admin– The User Admin of OSGi Runtime maintains a user database with specific user attributes.
OSGi UPnP Driver – The UPnP Driver is a base driver for UPnP-enabled devices developed according to the "UPnP Device Architecture" and "UPnP Device Service Specification" from the OSGi Compendium Specification Release 5.
OSGi Wire Admin – Provides implementation of the OSGi Wire Admin Service. This service manages the wiring topology of the OSGi framework providing connections between producer and consumer services.
OSGi Subsystem – Provides implementation of the OSGi Subsystem Service Specification Release 5.

Known Issues and Limitations

Browser support for Websockets over HTTP/2 is currently limited. As of 02/2020 only Firefox is known to support it.
