Module Description

The Core module facilitates the bundle development, provides common utilities such as timers, thread pools, manifest parsing, logging, digest algorithms, etc. It also adds support for simple key-value database storage and valuable console commands for proper execution of Bosch IoT Gateway Software connected with the framework and the system itself.

Feature Set

The module provides the following features and functionalities:

Core API – Provides the Core module API.
Core Benchmarks – Allows third party management bundles to get the performance measurements of bundle internals.
Core Commands – Provides the following command groups:
- (system) system group – Holds the system commands of the shell.
- (backup) backup admin group – Works with the backup admin service, provided by the framework.
- (benchmarks) benchmark group – Holds the Benchmarks and Measurements commands.
- (bundles) bundle group – Holds commands for working with bundles.
- (cpa) conditional permission admin group – Works with the OSGi Conditional Permission Admin core service.
- (db) db group – Holds the DB Manager Service commands, providing the user a way to query the stored data.
- (fm) fault manager commands – Works with the fault manager service, provided by the framework.
- (fw) framework group – Holds the base Framework administration commands for installing/removing bundles, and other plain OSGi framework operations.
- (info) information group – Holds commands offers information about essential runtime parameters of the OSGi framework.
- (pa) permission admin commands – Works with the OSGi Permission Admin core service.
- (platform) platform state group – Holds commands for the platform state.
- (rm) restart manager group – Holds the commands for working with Restart Manager Service, provided by the framework.
- (services) services group – Holds commands for working with services.
- (tm) transaction manager group – Works with the transaction support, provided by the framework.
- (um) update manager group – Works with the update manager service, provided by the framework.
Core Console – Contains the Bosch IoT Gateway Software console bundle.
Core Jline Console – Provides auto completion of console commands.
Core Database – Provides a fast tree-based bundle storage for various data types, best suited to implement caching or state persistence.
Core Key Manager – Provides utilities for management of public/private keys and certificates.
Core Logging – Allows introducing and configuring levels of log information.
Core Threads – Provides Thread Pool and Timer Services.
Core Web Console CPA – Provides a web console plugin to administer Conditional Permissions.
Core Web Console Backup – Provides a UI for backing up and restoring data for specific bundle(s) using the Backup Admin functionality.
