Module Description (deprecated)

The WebSockets module provides full featured WebSockets Server, which implements the server part of RFC 6455.

WebSockets Protocol upgrades the HTTP Protocol in order to fix the HTTP request/response based communication issues by introducing real bidirectional communication. It also benefits from the existing infrastructure of the HTTP protocol (proxies, intermediaries, filtering, authentication, etc.).

Our implementation provides additional features and functionalities, specific for the Bosch IoT Gateway Software IoT.

The module provides the following features:

Full implementation of RFC 6455
Full-duplex communication
Uses a single TCP Connection
Little overhead compared to HTTP/REST
Our implementation provides OSGi configurations which allow the creation of simulated standalone HTTP Servers

Known Issues and Limitations

Requires JavaSE/compact1 execution environment if not retro-translated.
Requires JavaSE-1.5 or higher.
