Module description

The Bosch IoT Edge Services are represented in the Bosch IoT Suite as digital twins.

The OSGI Things Agent module is designed to provide connectivity for devices and gateways running Bosch IoT Edge Services to the Bosch IoT Suite. It represents the Edge Services runtime as well as all connected edge devices and their capabilities as things with features in the Bosch IoT Things service. Digital twin representation of the Edge Services and devices in the Bosch IoT Thing service allows device control from the cloud, and perform all locally available actions in the cloud.

•     Manage the Edge Services runtime from the cloud
•     View and manage devices in the Bosch IoT Suite Thing dashboard
•     Expose newly developed custom edge functionalities (functional items) to the cloud

Feature set

In the Edge Service runtime, the gateway resources, including all connected edge device and their capabilities, are represented as functional items. These functional items are transformed into features, belonging to a thing in the Bosch IoT Things service. This is accomplished via sending properly formatted Ditto messages through Bosch IoT Hub event points.

Using the Things dashboard in the Bosch IoT Suite, you are able to access:

•     Digital twin representation of the Edge Services runtime
•     Digital twin representation of OSGi bundles and configurations
•     Digital twin representation of physical devices
