Backup and restore of the OSGi Framework and bundles is available via functional Items. The BackupAndRestore functional item allows requesting the following actions:

• Backup of the OSGi Framework and bundles
• Restore data from the cloud backup

To get this functionality, the responsible Things agent bundle com.prosyst.mbs.things.agent.items.osgi.backup registers the functional item, which gets represented as a matching feature in the cloud.

Bosch IoT Things feature

The backup and restore functionality is represented through the BackupAndRestore feature in the Edge Services runtime thing. All available operations can be requested via the Bosch IoT Things service.

Available operations

The backup and restore operations can be triggered by sending a command with the respective name and a JSON payload to the BackupAndRestore feature.

• The backup operation is executed via the 'backup' command in the BackupAndRestore feature. Note, that backup operation may also initiate uploading of the backup file in the cloud.
• The restore operation is executed via the 'restore' command in the BackupAndRestore feature, with a URL from which to download the restore file.
• In both 'backup' and 'restore' operations, you have to supply a list of backup providers to backup or restore.
