Module Description

The KNX Module provides an OSGi-based API for management of KNX devices relying upon the capabilities of a KNX controller. The runtime comes with ready-to-use support of several KNX controller models as well as allows adapting the platform to work with new ones in accordance with the concrete requirements. It supports import of existing KNX network configuration from ETS projects and Device Access (DA) device creation with convenient UI wizard. The KNX module is integrated with the DA and Peripheral modules.

Feature Set

The module provides the following features and functionalities:

Provides a set of utilities and OSGi services that enable you to manage a network of KNX devices.
Provides integration with the Device Access - See KNX Device Item Mapping
Provides support for different types of Datalink Drivers: KNX/IP (up to version 1.0), USB and FT1.2 Serial.
Supports several formats for the messages (frame formats): EMI1, EMI2 and cEMI.
Supports the following frame types: L_Data, L_PollData, Busmon, Mgmt, L_Raw.
Provides integration with the Peripheral Module for automatic configuration to achieve out-of-the-box experience.
Support for ETS 4 and 5 projects.

Supported Devices

Certified Devices - the KNX module provides support for all KNX-certified devices, with a subset of features as described in the feature set above.
Tested Devices - a number of production devices is fully tested with the latest release of the Bosch IoT Gateway software stack.

Module Dependencies

The module has dependencies on the following:

OSGi Framework: The OSGi Runtime is required for the module to operate.
Serial Support Module: Optional, but required in order to connect to your KNX devices using the FT12 driver.
USB Module: Optional, but required for using the USB driver.
Device Access: Required if you need device abstraction and want to manage KNX devices from our FIM.
ConfigTree Module: Optional, but required for importing/exporting KNX related configurations.
