HDM API Module Description (Deprecated)

In the HDM implementation the home device unification is represented by defining the HDM API. This implementation is aimed at home devices.

The unified representation is presented in two directions. On one hand, we have a unified device representation to a higher level of abstraction through HDM API. On the other hand, we have a unified device representation to a lower level of abstraction through HDM SPI.

The HDM API is deprecated but is fully supported. The HDM API will be possibly removed from the next version of the Device Access module.

Feature Set

The HDM implementation provides the following specific features and functionalities:

provides parent - child functionality.
provides JSON-RPC compliant interface that allows remote access from user applications to devices in the network.
enables configuration and administration of devices via Web-based applications (Web Console).
provides integration with the Home Automation Manager by introducing automation to the device management.

Known Issues and Limitations

AsyncRequest cancel() does not act correctly all the time.

Module Dependencies

The HDM implementation has specific dependencies on the following modules:

Config Tree - this module is optional. It is used when ready configurations of home devices will be exported or imported.
Home Automation Manager - this module is optional. It is used when automation needs to be added to a home system on top of the HDM.
JSON-RPC - this module is optional. It is used when the HDM Module needs to be used over JSON-RPC.
Working with Web Console - this module is optional. This module is used when the HDM Module needs to be used over a web interface.
